The No. 7 ranked College of the Canyons women’s basketball team will host the No. 10 seeded Mt. San Jacinto Eagles in the second round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs on Friday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m.

The Lady Cougars finished the 2010-2011 season with an overall record of 22-7 and 11-1 in conference play, capturing their 13th Western State Conference Championship under head coach Greg Herrick. COC’s only conference loss came at L.A. Valley 68-64 on Feb. 9th. It was their first loss in conference play in three seasons.

COC will look to rebound after suffering a tough first round playoff loss last year to L.A Trade Tech, 68-66, after finishing 2009-2010 with 19 consecutive wins.

No. 10 Mt. San Jacinto finished with an overall record of 21-8 and 11-3 in the Foothill Conference finishing the conference in second place.

These two teams have met in the playoffs twice before as the Cougars defeated the Eagles 68-61 in 2007 and 81-77 in 2009.

The winner of this game will take on the winner of No. 2 San Bernadino and the winner of today’s play in game between No. 15 Santa Barbara and No. 18 L.A. Trade Tech on Wednesday March 2.

Friday’s game will be broadcast live on the home page of cougarnews.com beginning at 6:55 p.m. with Brian Lewis and Jon Gonzalez.
