Pancreatic Cancer is the fourth-leading cause of cancer-related deaths among Americans.
Each year 43,000 people are diagnosed with this disease. Approximately 36,000 men and women will die of pancreatic cancer in 2010 alone. The mortality estimate for this year is staggering and is based on cases diagnosed and patients that died during the years 2003-2007, (statistics taken from the Natl. Cancer Institute website www.cancer.gov
An estimate 21,370 men and 21,770 women will contract the deadly disease and most of them are usually over the age of 65. Each year, fundraising events try and raise enough money to help in the research and development of cures, as well as continuous improvement on the four main treatment areas that are currently be used.
This year one of Santa Clarita’s Beauty Salon and Spa Facilities is holding a “CUT-A-THON” fundraiser on November 14, 2010 from 10am-5pm. Concerto Salon and Spa, located at 23340 Cinema Dr. in Valencia. The Salon is asking that customers wear something purple to signify their support in the eradication of this disease.
