It was a calm, overcast day, and racers of the 23rd Annual Fat Tire Fest competed though specially developed trails teaming though grass, dirt, and through winding roads past pine trees that inhabit Castaic Lake Park.
The sunless sky covered the park over the treetops that created a shady canopy over the heads of mountain bike fanatics. The Festival brought many events to help hone the skills of the many levels of riding experiences of the avid cyclists.
Racers were supported by the plethora of various sponsors including well-known bicycle makers Specialized, outdoors enthusiast company REI, Residence company 661, Crank Brothers, and Mountain Bike Magazine.
Main event sponsor CORBA is an all-volunteer non-profit organization serving the mountain bicycling community of Los Angeles and its surrounding areas including southern Ventura County. They are a group dedicated to preserving open space, maintaining public access to public lands, and creating more trail opportunities for all to enjoy. I recommend the event to all who love bicycles and enjoy the outdoors. See you there next year.
