On Tuesday, September 21st College of the Canyons’ Career Services department has put together a resume rally, designed to help COC students and Santa Clarita residents put together effective resumes during this harsh economic climate. Many students throughout the day found their way into the student center to seek out the advice of the professionals who work in the Career Center.
Those who brought their resumes with them were able to get one-on-one advice and criticism of their resumes, and were able to edit them and create the resume that employers want to see. One of the professionals on site was Director of the Career Center, Anthony Michaelides, who recognizes that the need to help local residents find jobs is at an all time high.
“I think a lot of people are putting resumes out there and not getting bites and not getting calls and the resumes just not doing it for them, so there was definitely a need,” Michaelides explains, “not only for our students on campus, but also to the community.”
The resume rally was able to provide quality advice for all of the students and job seekers who made time to go and check it out. If you were unable to attend the rally, the Career Center is always available to students, and is a valuable resource to take advantage of.
