COLLEGE OF THE CANYONS – The College of the Canyons Theater department is in full swing as the fall semester begins. On Thursday, September 2nd, the department showcased student talent and the department’s upcoming show schedule.
Starting this month, the department kicks off a year long schedule of big name shows and student showcases, including productions of “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas”, “Death of a Salesman”, and “Lysistrata”
Rounding out the schedule are monthly performances from the “Comedians of the Canyons”, a student improv group that builds their show around audience suggestions, “Solopalooza” and “The New Works Festival”, highlighting original work from students.
Department Chair Paul Wickline says that even non-theater majors can benefit from taking courses in the theater department. “Students come in and gain self esteem and self confidence,” said Wickline.
