Despite rumors to the contrary, a broken pump will not keep COC’s pool closed for the next couple of weeks. School officials insist the pool should be open for business by the end of the week.
The closure has forced Canyons Aquatics to call off practices scheduled for Tuesday afternoon. The organizations’ website says future practices for “Dolphins” and other levels of competition will be held at various off campus locations in the Santa Clarita Valley. The website is also telling swimmers and parents the pool could be closed for weeks.
COC Dean of Athletics Len Mohney said the broken pump which helps with pool filtration has been replaced before, and usually the problem is corrected in just 1-3 days.
Mohney also said a community education aqua aerobics class scheduled for Wednesday morning is in jeopardy of being cancelled.
