College of the Canyons will be holding it’s annual MajorQuest event October 20th from 11am-2pm. The event will be held on the walkway between the Administration building and the Student Center. In case of rain the event will move inside to the cafeteria.

MajorQuest is an event for all those students out there they may have not selected a major just yet and want the opportunity to talk with faculty from the different departments to help them make a decision.

According to Kelly Dapp, Student Services Coordinator, of the approximately 23,000 COC students several thousand do not have a selected major. Dapp says of these students, MajorQuest “Gives them a chance to find out what they are interested in and what courses to take”, along with this, Admissions and Records staff will be on site to allow students to declare their majors.

Last years event drew most of the college’s department’s and approximately 400 students. Staff from the various departments will be on hand for students to talk with and hopefully get an idea of their likes and dislikes in choosing a major.

Students will be given a questionnaire at the event that helps them gauge some of their likes and dislikes and along with the faculty on hand, hopefully a student could leave the event with a better idea of what their major should be.

The event itself is free to students and there will also be giveaways, popcorn and cotton candy.
In the past the welding department has brought out their welding trailer for students to try their hand at welding, the interior design department brings out student work and other departments showcase their offerings as well.
