Assassin’s Creed III Announcement Trailer

Ratohnhaké:ton is the unpronounceable name of the hooded heroine of Assassin’s Creed III. The tomahawk-wielding assassin kills numerous Redcoats in its announcement trailer released by Ubisoft, revealing exciting details about the upcoming game set to take place in Colonial America.

Assassin’s Creed III will hit stores October 30, 2012 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC. The game has also been reported to be in development for Nintendo’s much anticipated new console the Wii U.

Ratohnhaké:ton, also known as Connor, is a half-Native American, half-British assassin who continues the legendary franchise by involving Colonial America in its ever-lasting feud between the Assassins and the Templars Order.

Parts of the game are set to take place in the Mohawk Valley in 1777. Connor will take to the trees as you perform your free-running adventures, backstabbing feats, and arrow piercing assassinations during the Revolutionary War. Gameplay has you navigating Colonial towns and historic battlefields. George Washington even made an appearance in this trailer’s release.

Ubisoft has even created an entirely new engine to power this revolutionary game.

Promising “breakthroughs in visual quality, character models and artificial intelligence,” the engine, Ubisoft-AnvilNext, has already shown much promise to the upcoming title.

“Assassin’s Creed III features the franchise’s most expansive setting so far, along with an exciting new hero and exponentially more gameplay,” said Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft’s chief executive officer. “Whether you’re a longtime fan of Assassin’s Creed or if you’re new to the franchise, you’re going to be blown away by the scale and marvel of Assassin’s Creed III.”

By pre-ordering the game at Best Buy, GameStop or Amazon, gamers will receive a collectible case with artwork from Marvel comic book artist, Alex Ross.
