The Canyon Canyon Campus hosted the 4th annual Star Party last Friday night. The Star Party was done in partnership with the astronomy department as well as the math, sciences and engineering department. Attendees were able to get a closer glimpse of the night sky.
David Michaels gave a brief lecture on the king among the planets, Jupiter. He explained the history of Jupiter and its roll it plays in protecting earth from comments and other objects in the solar system. Jupiter has played a large roll in the history of humans.
After Michaels’ lecture, telescopes were set up to see the stars and planets in person. There was a variety of telescopes available, from simpler more primitive ones to large more advanced telescopes. Many people lined up for the telescopes.
