Some of the great highlights for the up coming season are not even taking place at the center. One of these highlights is going to be an actual World Record Attempt, for the largest Drum Circle of Kids. On May 18th 2012 over 7,000 kids from Santa Clarita schools will be brought to the COC stadium to attempt the world record. Remo Drums, The Performing Arts Center and various Santa Clarita School Districts are sponsoring the event.

The other highlight is a new program, that was done on a limited basis during the 2010-2011 season but will go into full swing during the 2011-2012 season. The program is called CONNECT. This program is designed to help the students of COC and the local Community to “Connect” with some of the acts coming to the Performing Arts Center.

Kenny Loggins, Anthony Bourdain and JazzReach are just some of the acts that will participate in this new program. Loggins and Bourdain will both hold special receptions for the community and students and JazzReach will be working with local school bands to educate them on the world of Jazz.
