The Cougar bats came alive Saturday as they destroyed the Citrus Owls 19 to 8 in a battle for first in the Western State Conference.

COC started the game off with a bang, hitting four homeruns and scoring eleven runs in the first two innings alone. Cougar Center Fielder Cal Vogelsang added two more homeruns with a grand slam in the bottom of the third inning and another solo shot in the bottom of the seventh.

“They were throwing inside all day ,” said Vogelsang “I got a hanging curveball and I spun on it and was able to keep my hands inside.”

COC Coach Chris Cota was pleasantly surprised to have an explosion of offense after the Cougars had been struggling of late to score runs.

“We’ve actually been struggling lately, and its nice to see one through nine swinging pretty well.”

The Cougars will travel to Citrus on Tuesday for a two thirty start time. The Cougars have just eight conference games remaining including two more with the Owls.
