Coach Cota’s Cougars

The Cougars are currently the second seed in the Western State South of the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association, CCCBCA. As the Cougars head into playoffs, they are coasting on a 24-6 record.

With Coach Chris Cota at the helm, the team has exceeded all expectations this season.

The Cougars had a 12 game win streak to secure their second place seed. Sweeping at the Allan Hancock Tournament, as well as sweeping series against West LA and LA Mission.

Their streak has unfortunately come to an end, COC fell to Bakersfield 10-6 on April 16th.

The Cougars have two breakout Freshman emerge, Out Fielder Chad Bible and Catcher Anthony Lepre. They were named CCCBA players of the week during March 28 to April 2.

Both Bible and Lepre have put up impressive numbers this season. Bible has an overall batting average of .400  with 52 RBI’s and 13 HR’s.  While Lepre has 37 RBI’s and 25 Runs, with a batting average of .384.

The Cougars have only six games left in the regular season and are only one game behind the number one seed. Out of the six remaining games left, there are only two left at home. The games are on Thursday, April 21st and April 28th at 2:30 PM.
