The College of the Canyons Men’s Soccer is poised and ready to make a run deep into the Southern Regional playoffs. COC earned a NO. 6 seed and will host NO. 11 seed Palomar College on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Cougar Stadium.

After seven consecutive victories to finish the 2010 season, the Cougars (13-5-2, 9-3-2) finished in third place in the Western State Conference behind Oxnard and Santa Barbara. Palomar (11-6-4, 7-3-2) finished second in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference after winning 2 of their last 4 games.

This is the third time the Cougars have made it to the playoffs since the programs birth in 2003. In 2004 the Cougars lost 3-1 to Moorpark in the first round, then in 2009 they made it deep into the playoffs before losing in the third round to Santa Ana 4-0.

The two programs have faced each other 2 times and the Cougars lead the series 2-0 behind a 2-1 victory at home in 2004 and another 2-1 victory in 2005 at Palomar.

Both the men’s and women’s soccer state championships will be played in Cougar Stadium on December 3rd to the 5th. COC hopes to make it there as the women’s team failed to make the playoffs in 2010.
