UPDATE: Remains Found On Bouquet

The Los Angeles County Corners office recovered human remains off of Bouquet Canyon Rd.

Placentia Police Department had been investigating the missing persons case of 20 year old Fullerton College student Linsie Ekelund.

She has been missing since 2001.

The remains of bones and clothing were found Wednesday after police were led to the canyon site by 31-year-old Christopher McAmis who is accused in Ekelund’s murder.

Investigators believe McAmis dumped her body, there because he had worked there as a construction worker, shortly after the murder.

McAmis was arrested Wednesday at his home in Fullerton and is being tried in Los Angeles County, where the murder is alleged to have taken place. He is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 30 and is being held on $1 million bail.

UPDATE: November 6, 2010 – The mother of a woman who disappeared nearly 10 years ago, says a bracelet found at the site belonged to her daughter.

Nancy Ekelund told the Associated Press she met with investigators and recognized a gold bracelet that was found with the unearthed remains. The Associated Press reported that Nancy Eklund recognized a bracelet that she gave to her daughter, Lynsie Ekelund, as a gift when she was 10 years old.

The coroner’s office is expected to identify the body found along Bouquet Canyon Rd. later this week.
