The polls opened up at 7 am across the state. There was steady voter turnout early in the morning and polling officials expected it only to pick up as the day goes on.

Midterm elections historically do not get high voter turnout, however, this election is proving to be different. This can be attributed to the wide range of state propositions as well as the heated races for governor and senator.
