A brush fire broke out at 1:27 this afternoon along Sierra Highway, southwest of Eternal Valley Memorial Park.

115 fire personnel and two water choppers were able to keep the fire to two acres.

One firefighter sustained injuries to his eyes during the battle and was transported to a local hospital.

“Units from Los Angeles County Fire Department, Los Angeles City and U.S. Forest all responded and we knocked it down quickly,” said Los Angeles County Fire Battalion Chief Anthony Marrone.

Winds remained calm throughout most of the battle. The blaze was declared “knocked down” just after 2 p.m.

The fire stayed completely within the Santa Clarita city limits and did not threaten any federal land or structures according to Marrone.
