Library Expansion Causes Parking Problems

Expect less parking at the Valencia campus for the next few semesters.

Much less.

Over 300 spots have been taken away from the students and faculty due to the library’s expansion into parking lot 15. The move was made to accomodate the needs of construction crews.

In order to open up more space, COC has removed equipment and official vehicles from student parking spots. They also created more staff spaces between Towsley and Boykin Halls.

“While these efforts will be helpful, we nevertheless believe that there will be significant parking problems during the first three weeks of the semester,” said Mitjl Capet, Assistant Superintendent, in a statement released to faculty.

COC insists that students park on the north side of campus in lots 7 and 8, off of Valencia Boulevard, as well as to come early enough to grab spots. They request that students park correctly within each space or to utilize public transportation. The school will also run a shuttle service during the first three weeks of the semester from the Borax building parking garage at 26877 Tourney Road. Shuttle service will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
