David Stroud handled cancer the way he handled everything else in life, with strength.
In fact, “StroudStrong” was the slogan David and his supporters started using in April of 2008, when he was diagnosed with Stage IV Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Through his “three and a half year war (sic)” with cancer, David never let it define who he was. To David and his family, he eventually won his war against cancer and “went home to be with his Savior on August 20, 2011.”
Over a thousand people gathered on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Grace Baptist Church to remember David’s life.
His best friend, Brian Ceppi, and sister, Rachel, were just a couple of those who spoke and shared their memories of David.
To those who knew David, he was a “superhero” whose strength inspired them.
A comment posted on his Facebook page said, “We will never forget the fight you fought, the strength you had, and the courage that you spread to all those around you.”
“Not many people can say they left a legacy, especially in only 19 short years, but you did David! Your strength, love and faith has left a legacy in the hearts of countless people you have inspired,” another friend posted.
Although he is gone, David leaves an inspirational legacy of strength in the hearts of many.
David once said, “You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.”
