Elections will be held May 17-19 to fill positions on the Associated Student Government at College of the Canyons.

This year however, brings some changes to the election rules. It is now a violation of the election code for anyone associated with a candidate to solicit a vote with an electronic device. For example, if the candidate, or anyone else asks you to cast a vote with their laptop or phone, they would violate the election rules and the candidate could face sanctions.

The new election rules also limit where candidates can campaign. ASG candidates are only allowed to campaign on campus. However, using the internet or social sites like Twitter or Facebook, are now allowed.

This election will have a large impact on COC students as it will decide who represents the student’s concerns regarding issues such as class offerings and budget cuts.

A full list of candidates can be viewed at the ASG’s website. Voting begins at the Canyon Country Campus May 17th and at the Valencia Campus May 18th.
