Austin spent two years in the GVTV television production class at Golden Valley High School — one year on the staff and one year as the student producer. Following graduation in June 2009 he enrolled in the News Media class at College of the Canyons, where he enjoys his position as Web Director of Cougar News Online (CougarNews.com). In his spare time, Austin films and edits projects for local businesses, schools and bands. Video editing and cinematography are his two deepest passions. He enjoys living in the city of Santa Clarita and is the youngest member of the SCVTV staff.

Students are rewarded for academic excellence

This weekend marked the end and the beginning of a journey for several high school students. The end of this year’s Nissan of Valencia Car Giveaway was signaled by a semiprivate ceremony in the dealership’s lobby, where each winner received their prize.

Hundreds Plunge for Unity

Hundreds of brave souls are crossing a new accomplishment off of their bucket lists — they’ve jumped into a 54-degree lake.

More than 140 individuals took part in this year’s Polar Plunge by plunging into the near-frigid waters of Castaic Lake Saturday morning.

A local forestry unit is taking steps to restore a soon-to-be lost Santa Clarita Valley ecosystem.
Crews are working to remove invasive weeds from the Bouquet Canyon Creek in order to protect and improve existing urban ecosystems as well as those in danger of expiration.

1,100 Cyclists Ride Through SCV for Life

Chains clicking, riders panting, tires gripping asphalt. All of these sounds reverberated down city streets Saturday as thousands of cycling enthusiasts – including Major League Baseball’s Barry Bonds – flocked to Santa Clarita to strengthen their physiques and improve the lives of local youths.
