In November 2009, The Patios of Westfield’s Town Center Mall in Valencia opened up to the public. However, most of the store fronts remained vacant. As spring is right around the corner, most of the shops are open for business and ready for the rush of people warmer temperatures are sure to bring with them. Forty new shops were opened in November 2010 and more continue to open every month.

The $130 million expansion added 234,000 square feet of open air shopping and dining experiences to the Town Center. Included are two fireplaces, several seating areas, a water fountain, two koi ponds and landscaping throughout. It offers Santa Clarita Valley residents a destination to relax in the shade while taking in the fresh air during their trips to the mall.

The Patios also includes a children’s wing, a section devoted to children. Janie and Jack, The Children’s Place, Carter’s and Crazy 8’s offer Santa Clarita Valley residents one stop shopping for all of their kid’s clothing needs, and Brooks Shoes for Kids provides footwear for the little ones. While shopping for what your child needs, The Patios also has what your child wants, namely a ride on a train or digging up fossils at Dig It Fossil Workshop.

Of the many retail clothing stores that have recently opened their doors for business on The Patios, one of them has an owner with an interesting way of spending his time when he isn’t managing his store. Aside from tailoring for residents of the Santa Clarita Valley, J David’s Custom Clothiers President David Guenther is also the official scorekeeper for the Lancaster JetHawks and a players scout for major league baseball’s Cincinnati Reds. Guenther opened J Davids in the Santa Clarita Valley in 1988 and recently moved his custom tailoring store from Stevenson Ranch to The Patios at Valencia Town Center. Guenther is excited about being a part of Westfield’s overall plan of turning The Patios into the most upscale shopping experience in the Santa Clarita Valley. “Easy in and out access to the store for picking up alterations after work,” Guenther said in reference to his storefront’s proximity to the parking lot.

Some other retailers open for business which help build the image of The Patios as the upscale shopping headquarters of the Santa Clarita Valley are William & Sonoma, M.A.C., Swarovski crystal, True Religion, Michael Kors, Parc 81 and Tous Jewelry. A complete list of every shop and restaurant at Westfield’s Town Center Mall in Valencia can be seen here.

With warmer temperatures right around the corner and a majority of the shops in The Patios open for business, The Patios will be firing on all cylinders. With places for mom, places for dad, places for teens, places for kids and places to eat when the shopping feet need a break, The Patios will surely be a popular destination for years to come.
