Kid Rock Hates His Name?

Who is Bob Ritchie? That is probably what you guys are asking yourself. Well this name might ring a bell… say hello to Kid Rock!

Since Kid Rock’s debut in the music industry in 1999, it’s fair to say that Kid Rock is one of the few artists who have kept it real as an artist and person (The 40 year old still lives in Michigan).

In the May issue of Esquire Magazine, Kid Rock (AKA Bob Ritchie) tells a few lessons thats he’s learned up to this point in his life. He also mentioned how he wasn’t too big on his stage name that he choose for himself.

Kid Rock said:

“It’s the worst name in the world,” he laughs. “The only person that had a dumber name than me was the Fresh Prince. Hey, it sounded like a cool rap name when I was sixteen. But it stuck, and now it’s me. I’ll be an 80-year-old man – ‘call me the Kid.'”

What do you guys think you’ll regret at the age of 40?

  • Null Factor

I have 3 more years until I hit the big 4-0.  I also “hit the scene” (though a very different scene – the Electronic Industrial scene) in 1999, under the name Null Factor.  I still write under the name Null Factor (just released my sixth album on 10 May, 2011) and I still think it fits my music and my personality, just fine.  If I had any regrets, it’s that I wasn’t more aggressive in trying to get my music in the hands of people who could have made a bigger difference, for me.  Namely A&R reps.  But even that regret is offset by the fact that I have had complete artistic control over my music career from 1999 to present.  Even regrets have a silver lining!
