The Art Gallery will present “Vinyl / The Art of the Album Cover” from Thursday, Nov. 29 through Dec. 13.
Providing a trip down memory lane, this casual look at the evolution of the LP (long playng) album cover will focus primarily on covers produced from the late 1950s to 1990s. Examples will include iconic images as well as lesser known, yet meaningful album covers.
Other items included in the exhibition are vintage turntables, picture discs and the precursor to what we now call the album cover – aka 78 RPM collection sets.
A gallery reception and “record hop” will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday. Nov. 29.
The Art Gallery is open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Those unable to visit the gallery during normal hours are welcome to call Ext. 3612 to schedule a viewing appointment. All gallery exhibitions and related events are free and open to the public.
