The Space Shuttle Endeavour's much celebrated journey to Los Angeles was drawn to a close Tuesday with the grand opening ceremony of its new home, the Samuel Oschin Display Pavilion, at the California Science Center.

Many of the guest speakers stressed the importance of education. Dance students from the Debbie Allen Dance Academy performed their rendition of "Men in Black" during the opening ceremony.

Students of the Alexander Science School, an elementary school partnered with the California Science Center, were the first official visitors to the exhibition. In the pavilion, children could participate in science experiments and learn about space exploration and life as an astronaut.

The Display Pavilion is a temporary home, while the Science Center builds the Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center. The Air and Space Center will prop the shuttle upright and include more space exploration exhibits.
