At least one person was hurt after firefighters responded to a reported house fire in Stevenson Ranch, Wednesday morning.

The fire was reported at 8:17 a.m. on the 25000 block of Keats Lane.

“When we arrived on scene there was a small contents fire in an outbuilding,” Los Angeles County Fire Capt. Randy Gee said.

According to Gee, one person was treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics and was released.

“Police are on scene investigating the cause of the fire, but it is still to early to know whether the fire was intentionally or accidentally started,” Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Lt. Morhoff said.

Though the blaze may seem easy to extinguish, Gee urges people to call 911 before trying to fight a fire themselves.

“Though the fire could be small, a lot of smoke can be produced and that is what will hurt you,” Gee said.

“So be careful on when you try to fight the fire yourself.”
