Audrey Burgdorfer is one of the campus nurses here at COC. She has been working in the health center for the past nine years. Audrey has 37 years of experience in the field of nursing, and she is a vibrant part of the nursing staff.
As a young woman, Audrey had aspirations of being an artist but they were shot down by her parents. She was forced to go into nursing like the other women in her family. After years of tedious work Audrey found a passion for public health as well as pediatric nursing. Her job at COC is “…an extension of pediatric occupational health.”
Audrey specializes in preventing diseases such as STDs. She offers free contraceptives in the student health center S-122.
“Come in and see us!” Audrey urges to all students who want to take better control of their health. The majority of services in the health center are free. Even if you don’t have health insurance, the student health center can help you out!
When asked what advice she had for the College of the Canyons students Audrey replied, “Come in and see us! If you’re not feeling well, or you have something on your mind, there’s no way you’re going to ace that test. There’s no way you’re going to be motivated to do well in that course… and we can help that.”
